Myungho Choi was baptized in the early 90s inside the abandoned warehouses of the midwest, experiencing the sounds crafted by the DJs and electronic musicians from Detroit and Chicago. Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, Chicago and Detroit was always accessible. Choi was inspired by auteurs like Juan Atkins, Paul Johnson, Rob Hood and Glen Underground. Choi began an output of sounds ranging from downtempo electronic, under the moniker Trout, Spore, and Lewis Overton, to techno and tech house under the names Elliptical and Myungho Choi. In the mid 90s, Myungho began performing and releasing tracks on compilations and indie labels, and soon after created an imprint called Transit Records with close friend Shannon Leis.

In 2001 Myungho Choi moved to New York City to start a graphic design studio called Bartok with partner Gilberto Albuquerque, and to fulfill his passion for experiencing and practicing art. Concurrently Choi became infected with house music, and his primary musical obsession turned to house, hip hop, and 70s soul. A few years later, Mark Farina released a Live in Tokyo mix on Om, featuring his track Red Umbrella, and then released two EPs with A Touch of Class (Germany) and and EP with Odour Recordings from the UK.

Choi continues the obsession with house and deep house – laying down chords, banging out beats, freaking disco and funk loops. As gear changes from analogue to digital, vinyl to mp3s, the criteria still stays constant: does it make you move? Old or new, obscure or overexposed, Myungho digs everyday to find gems to spin for his mix series entitled The Cream Joints , a monthly podcast of house music mixes. For him, house music is a physical sensation that can poorly be described through words.
