BIO

With their music revealing an essence of their soul, every artist tells a story. Capturing this essence on the beat and translating that into a feeling thru mixology, Jamad is a reflection of the music he enjoys. While many today bend values in pursuit of the dollar, DJ Jamad's personal mission is to pass the baton from past to future generations of artists in hopes that they learn to appreciate the foundation of their music. It's important to Jamad to maintain the connection with music history while ensuring that it continues to evolve. Blending old with new is what DJ Jamad does best, mixing classic and modern R&B, Soul, and Hip-Hop. What sets Jamad apart from other DJ's is his creative ideology and persistence to create a sound with longevity and without compromise.
Since the year 2000, Jamad's Afromentals Mixtape Series has been attracting masses of loyal listeners seeking an alternative to mainstream Hip-Hop and R&B. Only on Afromentals can you find Slum Village, Loose Ends, Jill Scott, Al B. Sure, Schoolz of Thought, Gangstarr, Marvin Gaye, Brandy, and Steely Dan, all on the same mixtape. As if consistently banging out mix after mix for Afromentals wasn't enough, DJ Jamad has also produced several other albums and mixtapes including Outskirts: The Unofficial Lost Outkast Remixes, AFROMATIC, and The Red Clay Experiment. Afromentals have also served as a platform to cross-promote photographers, illustrators, boutiques, and other artists and producers such as Nicolay, DJ Wreckineyez, Supa Dave West, Floyd The Locsmif, Miles Bonny, Amanda Diva, and Tiffany Paige.
DJ Jamad produced 236 episodes of the "Afromentals Mixshow", a long-standing weekly radio show which aired on Sunday nights from 8pm until 10pm EST on Sirius Satellite Radio's Hip Hop Nation (Sirius 40/XM 67). Periodically, he presented Operation Hot Combs (OHC), a one-hour "guest takeover" that aired during the show. These special segments allowed artists, producers, and DJs an opportunity to guest host and promote their individual projects and talents while giving listeners a candid view of the featured entertainers and their personal musical interests. Along with over 4 years at Sirius, Jamad was also a featured guest DJ on BBC Radio's 1xtra while touring Europe.
On Sunday March 21, 2010, DJ Jamad made his return with a new edition of the Afromentals Mixshow entitled "FRO POWAH Hour". This new 1 hour show streams currently on Frolab.com via Mixcloud.com

Currently, Jamad aka "The Music Messenger" is a resident DJ featured on www.ThatsGoodRadio.com. Tune in online every Wednesday 1-3PM EST for "Afromentals" where you'll hear a mixture of contemporary styles of music from Future Bass, Hip Hop, Soul, Electronic, Beats & Classics!
P.S. Nito (FroLab) says, "STAY WIT IT!"

MESSAGE FROM DJ JAMAD
Hello,
Welcome to the world of Afromentals! As a DJ/Producer, I'm dedicated to breaking artists and introducing new music to those with sophisticated ears. I'm a true fan of the arts as a whole.
To many, music is an outward expression but also a personal reflection of who we are. My appreciation and respect for musicians is how I like to represent as a DJ. I have a strong sense of value in the culture.

Ultimately, Funky bass rhythms from any genre of music is what I love most! Vibes that will raise the hair on the skin that provoke emotion. Okay, I admit that I am addicted to MUSIC!!! With that being said, I invite you to listen to me weekly on the various outlets via the internet.
