DJ DYNAMITE

“LIGHTING THE FUSE”

Alone in a room where today’s hottest artists line the walls, a single light shines like a spotlight over a lone male figure. Head bent, with the 98.5 FM moniker shadowed over his right shoulder, his fingers move swiftly from one table to the next as the popular beat pounding through the speaker’s mixes effortlessly into another. He pauses in reflection as he lifts the headphones from around his neck and takes a listen to the sound that weaves through them. With no play list in sight it is clear to see why, DJ Dynamite is genuinely good at what he does.

Moving crowds since the age of 11, when his audience consisted of neighborhood friends and acquaintances, DJ Dynamite has steadily moved with determination through the ranks of rookie to seasoned vet. From rocking high school parties for his peers, to within days providing the same services to their parents, at the adult clubs that populated the city, this 27-year-old music lover has a wide knowledge for what real music is all about.

As a true hip-hop-head, born in Philadelphia and raised in the neighborhood of North Santee, which is found in Georgetown, South Carolina, DJ Dynamite lists legends like Jam Master J, and the song “The Show” by Dougie Fresh and Slick Rick, as some of the initial reasons why he was drawn to the world of music. He also sites his father’s good-natured argument, “You don’t know what real music is” as another factor as to why he has worked so hard to become the music coneseur he is today. From dealing with the loss of his mother at the age of 3 months to continuously ignoring the advice from his father and others to pick a job that made real money, this man behind the turntables has surely come a long way and earned his stripes.

“The only way I can describe it is as rush,” claims Dynamite when asked about his passion for being a DJ. “Being in control of crowds from hundreds to thousands and knowing that you’re the reason why they move, is a humbling experience. There’s no other feeling like it in the world. I also get good feelings when I break a record from a national artist or give that hard working independent their first major spins.”

As the personal DJ for Petey Pablo and already a regular on shows like Rap City, Apollo, and 106’ N Park, DJ Dynamite is preparing to campaign for his own movement. Motivated by his true love for music and his determination to make DJ Dynamite a household name, this self made man is on his way to being one of the best to ever do it. Whether your aware of it or not your definitely about to experience a mind blowing phenomenon.
