Review: Every now and then someone pops up and surprises you with their sound or approach to making D+B. Donnie Dubson is one such character, who brings his idiosyncratic ways to the Fokuz imprint. Blending skittering, syncopated beats with warm waves of bass and sweeping instrumentals, he builds layers of sound on top of one another for maximum impact. "Transition" is one such onion-skinned track with plenty of melodic moments juxtaposed against flurries of beats and bass. With "Assemble" it's a different story as things get slowed down and stripped back with warping bass and eerie SFX.
