The song is the 6th single from their 2nd studio album Working with Fire and Steel released in 1983 and was written by Gary Daly and Eddie Lundon. "Wishful Thinking" topped the charts at #9 in the UK Singles (Official Charts Company) but was never charted at the U.S. Billboard.
