DESCRIPTION:
Dietrich Gosser, a folk artist from Madison, Wisconsin, blends soulful soft-spoken singing with lyrically rooted country imagery into beautiful and engaging songs. I wasn't as familiar with Dietrich's music before we filmed this session with him, but he was kind enough to give us a copy of his 7" vinyl Somewhere in the Night and his last full album What the Buzzsaw Sings. Both are really fantastic. One of my favorite unexpected things I've heard in a while. I highly recommend you check them out for yourself.

On tour with Anna Vogelzang (who appears here with glockenspiel), Dietrich Gosser met up with us at Moondance at Midnight Pass -- a community amphitheater. It was raining, so our main concerns were just staying dry, but the back drop of the stands, open space, and buildings in the background turned out to look so cool. And we even had a friendly musical visit by a singing bird who seemed interested in communicating with Dietrich as he whistled.
