That Little Black Mustache ~ Pianist Don Puryear - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 09, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
That Little Black Mustache was written by Jason Dow in 1881.

I'm participating in #NoShaveNovember, or #Movember, an awareness campaign by the Movember Foundation to bring attention to men's physical & mental health issues, and this clever little song seemed perfect because of it's mustache-theme.

The lyrics to That Little Black Mustache tell a funny story, so I've included them in the video, but I'll also provide them here:

THAT LITTLE BLACK MUSTACHE
Oh! Once I had a charming beau, I loved him dear as life.
I surely thought the time would come, when I would be his wife.
His pockets, they were filled with gold, and Oh! He cut a dash.
With diamond ring, a watch & chain, and a darling black mustache.

He'd come to see me Sunday nights, and stay till almost three.
He said he'd never loved a girl as much as he loved me,
and said we'd live in grandest style, for he had lots of cash.
And then he pressed upon my lips, that little black mustache!

One day there came a sour Old Maid, who owned her weight in gold.
She had false teeth and wore fake hair, and was 45 years old!
He cruelly deserted me just for that Old Maid's cash.
And thus you see: I lost my beau with the little black mustache!

And now they live across the street in that gray mansion old.
She married for the black mustache; he married for her gold.
Now, Girls, remember my sad fate, and do not be too rash,
But let alone those stylish chaps who wear a black mustache!

CHORUS:
Oh! That little black mustache! That little black mustache!
Every time I think of it, my heart beats quick as flash!
That little black mustache! That little black mustache!
But you must know: I lost my beau with that little black mustache.

I'm looking around for other old-timey tunes with mustache & beard themes, so if you know of one, please let me know!
