DESCRIPTION:
EEVO has a supercomputer in his head. Its buttons are controlled by himself and you can hear the result on his new This is Poison album. Since 1991 Eevo has lived like a hyper powerful hermit and is only awake at night. What happens in those nights will be clear to you when you play his Quotum 4 CD. Something happens there. Something very abnormal. Eevo, who pioneered Quotum 4 in 1994 with three other people, but continued alone, has a collection of secrets. He uses instruments with components of the recently destructed Hunze Hydro Generator (in his Dutch hometown Groningen), handmade by colleague acid-rapist Toddler Thor. 'They wanted to destroy everything,' he says, 'but I still accomplished getting a box of rare parts. And without those, I never would have been able to create certain sounds.' That seems true. The compositions of Q4 (how Quotum 4 is often called) are full with unearthy noises. And all compositions on the This is Poison CD gives you a different wiggle. 'Mind you, it took me 8 years to finish this album. And because I hate happy-whistle music, I'd rather produce tracks that make people grind their teeth. When I see people's facial expressions change while listening to my music, I know I did my job right.' Already years ago people asked Eevo: 'What keeps you from sending this stuff to record labels? Isn't it finished?' But Eevo was not satisfied yet. He wanted it better and kept working on detail after detail. 'That is just the type of artist I am. I need to be able to scratch the tracks with my nails. Or else I find it just too boring.' You cannot dance to the Q4 music. No, dance is the wrong word. The whip-power of Q4 makes you squirm valiantly and your fingers may start to itch. But later in the song you will see an abundance of people start dancing, and differently every time. Will there be more after this album? 'Oh yes!', Eevo says beat-barbarically and full enthusiasm, 'there are many cuts waiting to be completed. Most of them will end in the ashtray, but those that survive are really going to be mentally explosive. Because entertaining the large public never interested me. I would rather work for the thunderground scene. Much more fun.' The This is Poison album contains 10 techno-thirsty tracks and can be purchased today. Expect a serious amount of brick-feeling and multiple sounds surprises. Yes, there is a new phenomenon in Europe: Quotum 4.
