DESCRIPTION:
Four very early, beautiful Jussi Björling songs, recorded when he was a teenager. It is fascinating to listen to the very young Björling, and very impressive how mature, manly and well developed his voice was for such a young age.

Songs: Torna a Surriento, For you alone starts at 3.30, Summer Night at 5.40, Salut d'amour at 8.55.

Jussi Björling, 5 February 1911 -- 9 September 1960, had been training hard since he was a little boy, beginning with his father as his teacher when he was 4 years old. He came from a whole family of talented singers.

Most Jussi Björling videos are of his famous performances as an operatic tenor of Nessun Dorma, Una furtiva lagrima, E lucevan le stelle, Che gelida manina, Nämner du Sverige, Helga Natt / O Holy Night and all the other wonderful songs and arias he performed when his voice was fully matured.

I think this earlier part of his life, before his major breakthrough in opera, is very interesting too, and gives an insight to the development of his voice.

The songs are:

Gondolsång, Come Back to Sorrento, Torna a Surriento. Recorded December 18, 1929

För Dig allen, For You Alone. Recorded December 18, 1929

Sommarnatt, Midsommarnätter, Summer Night. Recorded May 12, 1930

Violer, Salut d'Amour. Recorded October 8, 1930

All songs with Nils Grevillius Orchestra and Nils Grevillius as Conductor
