**"Run Jesse, Run" recounts the narrative of a young man caught in the Boarder Wars, also known as Bleeding Kansas, which occurred during the years of 1854 and 1861 between anti-slavery Free-Staters and pro-slavery Bushwhackers. The song is based on the most infamous raid during this time which became known as Quantrill's Raid -- a tragic massacre of the abolitionist town of Lawrence, KS.
