Late at night, Derek, when the despair of daily toil fades out on my electric strings, when city conflicts are drawn in alcohol, I can recall, Derek, all of your tricks… That, the best of all I think, with the Dominos, but also the other one in «Slowhand» that used to haunt our parties with «cocaine». I definitely won’t forget Leyla’s intriguing smile and those brief outbursts with supergroups. Divine fame came your way early enough, it was written on London’s street walls. Τα βράδια, Ντέρεκ, όταν της βιοπάλης η απόγνωση σβήνει στις ηλεκτρικές χορδές μου, όταν της πόλης οι συγκρούσεις βουλιάζουν στο αλκοόλ, θυμάμαι, Ντέρεκ, όλα σου τα κόλπα… Εκείνο, το κορυφαίο, με τους Ντόμινος, αλλά και το άλλο, με του «Slowhand» την κοκαϊνη που στοίχειωνε τα πάρτι μας. Δεν θα ξεχάσω βέβαια το συνωμοτικό χαμόγελο της Λέιλα και τα βραχύχρονα ξεσπάσματα με τα σούπεργκρουπ. Γνώρισες, Ντέρεκ, γρήγορα την θέωση, το’ γραψαν και στους τοίχους του Λονδίνου. Όμως ο θάνατος δεν ξεγελιέται, κι εσύ πικρά το ξέρεις. Έλα κι απόψε, στην παρέα μου. Γιατί μέσα στη νύχτα έρχεται, όλων των μπλουζ η βραχνή σοφία.
