CHAKA DEMUS & PLIERS

Through Dancehall, the DJ style emerged and while initially considered a flash in the pan, it has remained a la mode over thirty years since U Roy first popularised the style on disc. U Roy had been greatly influenced by such predecessors as Count Matchuki, Sir Lord Comic, and in turn, the DJ daddy inspired the likes of Dennis Al Capone, Scotty, I Roy and Big Youth. Following these pioneering DJs were artists such as Trinity, Dillinger and the Lone Ranger and by the eighties, General Echo, Yellowman and Eek A Mouse joined the ranks of boss DJs, which led to newcomers such as Shabba Ranks and Nicodemus carrying the swing.
Influenced by these DJs was Chaka Demus, who began his career in the early eighties performing on Jammy's 'Supreme Sound' as 'Nicodemus Junior'. Born John Taylor in Western Kingston, some time in August 1963, the young DJ changed his mantle to Chaka Demus for his debut single, 'Increase Your Knowledge'. A series of singles swiftly followed, including 'Two Foot Walk' and a combination hit with the fêted 'big belly man' Admiral Bailey, entitled 'One Scotch One Bourbon One Beer'. While with Jammy's, the best of Chaka's work was compiled on the album, 'Rough And Rugged' that also featured hits from the previously mentioned Shabba Ranks. In 1987 Chaka joined Donovan Germain and the Penthouse posse to record the prophetic 'Chaka On The Move', which cleared the way for a slew of hits. While this compilation features the combination of Chaka Demus and Pliers, we felt that we should demonstrate a little of their solo work. To select notable tracks from the DJ's phenomenal output was not easy but we hope you'll agree that 'Mi No Inna It', 'Caroline Gal' and the celebrated 'Shock Out', riding the classic 'To The Foundation' rhythm are fine examples.

Mamadee was A feature background vocalist for Germanys international sensation Gentleman. Since then, Mamadee has toured internationally keeping her eyes on the prize, remaining focus by keeping her goals in reach.
G FORCE SOUND
Die lokalen Pioniere der Soundsystemkultur und karibischen Klänge feiern ihren 18. Geburtstag und bereiten sich auf eine produkionsreiches Jahr 2014 vor.
Sehr früh schon beinflusst durch die Musik von Bob Marley und Rodigans BBC Radio Show in den 80´ern, stand nach einer Jamaika Reise fest ein eigenes Soundsystem zu gründen, zu produzieren und Dubplates aufzunehmen.
1993 steckte dies alles noch in den Kinderschuhen in Deutschland und Europa.
Romano, Zumo und Don haben dann die "International Crew of G" gegründet und nahmen Selecter Zip noch mit an Board.
Ihr Homebase war und ist der Bahndamm in Wermelskirchen, wo sie seid über 20 Jahren regelmäßig und stetig spielen und Gäste aus der ganzen Welt einladen.
Aber auch viele Shows wurde in ganz Europa gemacht.
Kolaborationen mit Gentleman, Patrice, Lee Perry, Cutty Ranks, Warrior King, Bushman, Abysisinians, Top Cat, Chico, Michael Rose, SudSoundSystem, Dr. Ring Ding, Daddy Freddy, Macka B, NikitaMan, Black Kappa, Brothers Keepers, Jahmeek, Tolga, General Levy, Kimoe, The Movement, David Rodigan, Killamanjaro, Massive B, Mighty Crown und Freddie Krueger...sorgten für den nötigen Input & Erfahrung.
