Since his professional debut in 1996, DJ Bobby Martinez has been a mainstay in the Chicago night club scene. His musical diversity and blending ability has made him a highly sought-after DJ. He has performed with many great musical and entertainment acts like Front 242, Anything Box, and Red Flag, just to name a few. “I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to perform at venues such as 720, Convent, Excalibur, Green Dolphin, Congress Theatre, Zentra’s, etc. I have also been privileged to have worked alongside some of the DJ’s I grew up idolizing and the newer DJ’s that came along the way.”

Born into a family of talented singers and musicians, he knew that he wanted to be an entertainer. At a young age, he realized that he wasn’t blessed with a great singing voice. Instead, he dabbled with a drum set he received as a gift from his parents. “I think that’s where my passion for beats, rhythm, and melodies really began.”

In his early teens, Bobby became interested in the DJ art form after spending hours listening to legendary DJ’s like Luis Segura, Bad Boy Bill, Julian Jumpin’ Perez, Gino Rockin’ Romo and many others. “That’s when I realized that I wanted to be a DJ,” he modestly states.

He booked his first professional performance in April of 1996 at Tania’s in Chicago, IL. Shortly thereafter, he became a regular DJ at night clubs throughout the Chicagoland area. In 1997, Bobby began to guest DJ for WRTE 90.5 FM Radio Arte on the Friday Night Hot Mix Show. In 1998, he joined the Hot Mix Show as a resident DJ.

“In 2000, I left radio to pursue other interests in the DJ / music business. I loved the time I spent at 90.5 and the friendships I made there, but I wanted to venture other avenues in the music business.” During this time, he released three mix compilations: Bobby’s World and Beats Non Stop Vol. 1 and 2. He also began remixing and producing.

In 2001, DJ Bobby Martinez headlined his first international DJ tour, when he toured promoting Beats Non Stop Vol. 2.

In 2004, he returned to radio, joining ViVa 93.5 & 103.1 FM in Chicago, which became La Kalle.

Currently, Bobby is working on a few projects as producer / remixer. He has recently released a free mix compilation entitled House Revolution Vol. 1. “It’s a free mix I made to give back. It’s not something I did to make money. It’s something I wanted to do to thank all of the great DJ’s and producers that have given so much to our industry. But most importantly, it’s for the fans. It’s to say thank you to all of the fans that have not only supported me but have supported the movement of club / dance music. To you, I thank you! Without you, we as DJ’s / entertainers, would not have the opportunity to do what we love to do.”
