The Copenhagen based group M.E.T.A takes you through the awful story of a little Syrian girl, forced to flee from her country in a boat with her parents, just to see them drown. The song is heartbreaking cause the truth is heartbreaking!

”They have to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea”

This short quote, from an Arabic aid worker, made a huge impact when we heard it a few months ago. Imagine being forced to choose between certain death, and trying your luck by jumping into a boat with very little chance of survival!

The quote inspired us to write a song about the awfulness of the situation. In M.E.T.A, we’re not bound by a contract with a major label nor are we affiliated with a big PR agency, so we don’t need to follow any rules or guidelines – we can write just about anything we want. And right now, what we want is to make everyone understand that something awful is going on!

The song is called ‘Bodies in the Water’, and it features a video by Emilie Eide Eriksen. It’s heartbreaking, because the truth is heartbreaking! We hope it will serve as a wake-up call to everyone that the crisis isn’t over yet; no, it’s actually worse than ever. And people need to know this.
