Dawn Of Azazel - Spare None (live 13/3/13) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 18, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Massive 5 band gig - In Dread Response, Depths, Dawn Of Azazel, Thy Art Is Murder and Resporn... I was fortunate enough to film the majority of it and will share a track of each band as editing time permits. First off is Dawn Of Azazel - the initial reason for attending the gig (though I was keen to go see everyone anyway).

I had met drummer Jeremy Suckling in Musicworks in the city a few times and chatted about the idea of doing a drumcam video for him. This first conversation bloomed into a full live set filming once the rest of the band had heard about it and given the project consideration.

It was the first night of the tour, so all the bands were still finding their feet and warming into the feel of the tour, so the musicians took a moment or two to warm up - I can imagine how difficult it is to go from standing to sprinting, and this music is fast and very demanding. Dawn kicked ass of course, being the seasoned machine it is. For a 3 piece unit, they shook the building - as is obvious in one of the camera angles, where the sonic assault is literally attacking the camera. Kudo to the boys of Azazel for being good down to earth people and a pleasure to interact with. It always impresses me the humility and approachability that musicians of this caliber exude. No rock-star attitudes, none of that shit. Just people doing what they love.

Joe Bonnett played that Xiphos like a god - awesome that a single guitarist filled the entire guitar section of songs masterfully. Kudos. Rigel also kept things moving with his stage presence... He's a hard man to miss on stage :) Good to see Jeremy playing Tama. Brutal drum kits.

Cheers again to Mark the sound-man at the Kings Arms. Cheers for the loan of the ladder, and helping me try to make the best possible filming happen. Couldn't do it without you. Cheers again.
