Jump You Chapaties- The Jumping Chapaties - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 16, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
The 'Jumping Chapaties', one of Perth's (West Australia) finest original jump rock bands from the early 80's to the early 90's. Covering a broad range of original music from rock, ska, and funk roots with a pumping brass section and dollops of political messages, self depreciation and simply bizarre songs. During those years the 'Chapaties' jumped all over Perth & Freo venues, including, the Newport, Paddington's, Seaview Tavern, Sail & Anchor, the Brewery, Red Parrot, Fly By Night Club, Old Mug Tavern, the Aberdeen, RTR FM and did lots of festivals and fundraisers for groups like the Nicaraguan Support Group, the Greens, Trade Unions and various other left wing causes.

Key protagonists in the band were singer/songwriter/guitarist, David Lee, saxophonist/songwriter/singer Andrew McKay Sim and bass player/songwriter Tony (Skip) Reed. With support at various times from musicians Denys Lunn, Chris Taborda, Christine Evans, Ian Davan, Larry Hoofs, David Hyams and Phil Wilier. The band released a couple of singles and had a song on the 96 FM Perth Bands album in the late 80's.
