Bye Bye - World Service Project : Drawing - Alban Low - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 26, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
World Service Project are Dave Morecroft -- piano/keyboards, Tim Ower -- saxophones, Raphael Clarkson -- trombone,Conor Chaplin -- bass and Neil Blandford - drums. Alban Low is a London-based artist.

WSP formed in 2009, and have quickly laid down impressive live credentials at some of the country's top venues and festivals, as well as being recently featured as "Taking Off" (Jazzwise, August 2010). The group is centred around the compositional eccentricity of pianist Dave Morecroft, who delights in meddling with jazz in its many guises. Gutsy, energetic and emotionally driven music, the group draw from a wealth of musical experience in jazz, funk, improvisation, rock, punk and contemporary classical music.

I first sketched Conor while trawling the clubs, pubs and jams of London in 2009.
The sketches for this film were made while travelling on our Public Transport system, and on my recent visit to Manchester for the CUBE Open at the Cube Gallery. Between setting up my work and the Private View I drew the farewells of people at Manchester Picadilly station. I've turned some of these images into magnets and exhibited at the CUBE gallery. I'll also be exhibiting some on the streets so that people can pick them up for free, and Danish artist Eskild Beck will put some in his show 'Makrelsalat' this December.
