DARKEST HEARTSTRINGS new album "TALES OF BETRAYAL AND REDEMPTION" out now through GREASY POP RECORDS



There are terms for outcasts that take no prisoners; like guns for hire, Ronin, and Rock 'n' Roll bands. Darkest Heartstrings are the latter, and that's rock and roll brought to you like wandering killers drifting into town at the scent of blood money.



Born from the ashes of bands from Melbourne's vibrant live scene, band members Liam Kennealy (bass), Luke 'Mudsy' Laver (guitar), Leigh Stone (vocals/guitar), and Alana Manix (vocals/drums) built a new leaner, meaner machine in 2006 as their new band drew from the strength of their past efforts, while fusing their combined interest in cowpunk, slowcore blues and 80s-90s punk fueled indie rock.



The group wore another name for a while, until they found a moniker that suited their heart blend of punk, indie cowpunkery and straight up blistering Aussie rock. If renaming themselves Darkest Heartstrings helped solidify their image and sound, the actual reality of having the new name saw the group faced with having to almost re-establish their identity.



Undeterred, Darkest Heartstrings threw themselves into a heavy workload of one-off shows around the Melbourne pubs, moving on to regional and interstate gigs as their fan base grew, gigs they approached with the focus and commitment of pioneering groups of old.



In 2007 Darkest Heartstrings began work on their debut album, but only after a period of trimming their material to the barest, most essential songs, enabling them to head into the studio at their most focused. After cutting their debut on what the band jokingly call a shoe-string budget at Cut Throat Studios Flemington, and mastering by Paul Fox at Fox Audio Mastering.



In Late 2007 Darkest Heartstring having attracted the interest of GREASY POP RECORDS, have a home for their debut on Greasy Pop, with distribution by MGM.



The album TALES OF BETRAYAL AND REDEMPTION was released in december 2007.



The previous six months have seen DARKEST HEARTSTRINGS supporting acts such as THE GO SET,CARUS,PIERCED ARROWS ex dead moon,THE VASCO ERA and THE NEW CHRISTS. 2008 is already shaping up to be a big year with more unmissable live shows and an album for release late in 08.



For all the good word about town, all you really need to know is that the Darkest Heartstrings combines slashing country-punk guitars, gravel edged country-rock vox, a pummelling bass heavy rhythm section, into a melodic slugfest of solid tight songs to make your ears ring.
