This is the opening tune from the concert video recording by Dan Krimm called "Last Chance Jazz" performed November 10, 1993 and mastered/released as an audio album in 2013 (Another Pass Productions).

Mike Foster -- tenor sax
Rolf Sturm -- electric guitar
Rich Mercurio -- drums

(Note: The original drummer/percussionist in this group, also on the album 'Subtle Truth', was Tom Nazziola. Tom couldn't make it for this gig and referred Rich as a substitute.) This is the only recording of this composition as of August 2013, though the remastered audio version is a bit fuller and sharper than the audio on this video clip.)

This tune was written in 1991, around the time I was recording my album Subtle Truth. It was an exciting time, filled with promise and energy, and the tune reflects that trundling momentum in the opening bass line. I wrote the tune with this specific band in mind, composing melody and harmony lines that, together with the bass line, defined a full tonality for the tune without requiring anyone to play a rhythmic chordal part. This is real polyphony, until the modal solos start. I anticipated recording this tune for the next album -- as it turns out, this is that album, finally.
