Guitar Theory (Lesson 1) : Understanding the ROOT NOTE or "The One" is by far the most important concept for starting to learn music theory.

This intro to music theory explains what the root note is by using the example of the basic G major chord, which most guitarists learn within the first month or so of playing.

Other concepts mentioned in the lesson are :
- Scale Tones
- The major chord = 1, 3, 5
- G Chord = G B D (notes) or 1 3 5 (in scale tones)
- The importance of the root note

It's important to remember that all music theory references the major scale. So, when we say "the one", what we actually mean is the first note of the major scale. Likewise, the "three" and the "five" are the 3rd and 5th notes of a major scale.

Music theory is really fun once you grasp the main concepts!
