CubanoSon performs Quien Sera / Sway from their CD Rumba Nueva. The melody was written in 1953 as a cha-cha by Mexican band leader Pablo Beltran Ruiz and titled Quien Sera. That means "Who will it be" ... who will be my next love after the one I lost. Spanish lyrics were added. In America original English words were written and the title became Sway. It became a #15 hit for Dean Martin in 1954, and #21 for Eileen Bartin. The song went on to become a popular part of the English repertoire. Bobby Rydell had a big hit with it in 1960, in the rock+roll era. In 1979 he hit big again with a popular disco version. Lately artists like the PussyCat Dolls have made good recordings.


Even Governor Christie attended Union City's National Night Out Against Crime & Summer Festival last week.

The governor landed by helicopter on Washington Park's (El Parque de La Uno) baseball field just before the start of CubanoSon's performance. This yearly event has become a summer tradition in Union City and is enjoyed by both young and old alike, not only by residents of the immediate community but also from the surrounding towns. Some of the other festivities included: free rides for kids, free hot dogs and cotton candy, and live performances in addition to CubanoSon, by Rosario & Her Stars, The Union Hill Band, Rumba Havana Capitan, La Nueva Bohemia, TR Blaze, and Luciano Xactamente. CubanoSon gave a stellar performance to one of the largest audiences in the history of this event.
