The list is extensive, and I feel very fortunate because every production, every artist, and every musician has given me the gift of invaluable experience and anecdotes that have shaped me as a musician throughout the years.

I was born in Mexico City, the third in a family of six siblings; five of us are professionals in some aspect of the music industry.

At six years old, my parents gave me my first guitar so that I could play in the Rondalla (an ensemble of guitars, mandolins, tambourine and voices) at the Instituto Félix de Jesús Rougier where I attended elementary and middle school. From that moment I knew that music would be the complement to every aspect of my life.
When I turned twelve, my parents decided to form a musical group within the family called "Familia Abaroa". It was incredibly fun to play and perform with my parents and my siblings.
Shortly after, we joined the Zavala brothers' Choir of 100 Voices with whom I played guitar for fourteen years. The events were song festivals, television shows and religious activities.
Learning from Javier Zavala, the choir director, was a tremendous opportunity for me.

In 1986, what began as a pastime became the first step in my career as a musician. I enrolled in the CIEM (Centro de Investigacion y Estudios Musicales) a Mexican school of music recognized by the Royal Academy of Music in London. While at the CIEM, I studied guitar and cello.

In 1989, I obtained a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. Those were two incredible years in my life. I studied music arranging. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and, at the ceremony, Phil Collins and Al Jarreau were there to hand me my diploma.

In 1991, I decided to move to Los Angeles, California for a year; and due to the opportunity to work on different projects, my stay has been extended until today!

Throughout this time I have participated in the recording of more than eighty albums with credits such as songwriter, composer, arranger, production coordinator, musician, background vocals and music copyist.

I have composed music for successful productions of Televisa Kids: Misión SOS, Alegrijes y Rebujos, Código Fama, Cómplices al Rescate, Aventuras en el Tiempo, Rayito de Luz, Amigos x Siempre, el Diario de Daniela y Plaza Sésamo (Mexican version of Sesame Street).

I have released two CD's as a singer-songwriter: Pintor de Ilusiones and Cristina. My most recent production is CHAPIS, a CD with 12 of my children's songs.

Always surrounded by the best in the music industry, I have learned from the biggest talents and have been a part of the history for many. Every new day is a day of writing... My own story.
