This song is based off of a Japanese ghost story/urban legend, "Red Crayon." There are some different versions, but generally, In the story, a young husband and wife buy a new house. One day, they see a red crayon lying in the middle of the hallway. They have no children, and there were no signs that anyone had come in the house. Curious, they eventually look around the house and notice a space where another room should be. They peel back the wallpaper and find there is a nailed door there, a secret room. They remove the nails and open the door, only to find the room is empty. However, written on one of the walls in red is this:

"Mom I'm sorry! Let me out! Mom I'm sorry! Let me out! Mom I'm sorry! Let me out! Mom I'm sorry! Let me out! Mom I'm sorry! Let me out! Mom I'm sorry! Let me out!"
