The Bonnie Woods Of Craigielea and Waltzing Matilda - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 21, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
The Scottish tune "The Bonnie Woods Of Craigielea" written by James Barr (words by Robert Tannahill) is reputed to be the tune, or a variation of, played by Christina MacPherson to Banjo Patterson when he visited Dagworth Station in 1895.
Patterson, who was impressed with the melody - and with Miss Macpherson, had collected a local story about a delinquent swagman, promptly wrote the words of Waltzing Matilda, and the rest is history.
In this video Primrose plays Craigielea and after a couple of times through I play Waltzing Matilda, then sing the first verse.
