Cousin Joe with Sidney Bechet: http://bit.ly/KingJazz

Playing music from early in his life busking on the streets of New Orleans singing and playing the ukulele, later changing to the piano.

Cousin Joe recorded with Sidney Bechet and Mezz Mezzrow on the King Jazz sides in 1945 (Which can be found on our The King Jazz Story - Storyville Records 2012). And in subsequent New York sessions he was singing with groups led by Earl Bostic, Sam Price, Leonard Feather among others. He also did some very fine recordings with Gatemouth Brown and Jimmy Dawkins later on.

Here is a clip from a solo live show, which is the way he played a lot of shows late in his career.

Here Cousin Joe is playing his own composition. His humor and way with words really shine through here.
