The Death of Enkidu - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 14, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
According to the Epic of Gilgamesh (an ancient and mythological Mesopotamian poem), Gilgamesh, the part-god king of Uruk and his only companion, Enkidu, set out on a quest for everlasting life.

Near the end of their journey, Gilgamesh sends Enkidu into the Netherworld to retrieve some lost and valuable artifacts, and gives him precise instructions on how to survive there. Enkidu unfortunately, being the wild man that he is, does everything precisely as he was instructed not to, and ultimately he is poisoned and dies.

I wrote this piece to capture Gilgamesh's grief regarding his only friend's demise, and in the piece you will hear his mourning first, then his anger at the gods, and then finally, the hopelessness and despair of his loss.
