Gabor Nemethy ’Collins’ and Lotfi Behnam – friends and music addicts from Budapest, Hungary.
Their beginnings were effortlessly organic; during the ’90-s Collins (’DJ Némethy’ at that times) was enjoying success and high reputation as a DJ in the hungarian club scene. Behnam was also a respected DJ and well-known booking agent of one of biggest mid-european booking agency Titan International with many other references such as the launching of Radio Pulzar, the first hungarian electronic-music radio station
Their first encounter was just a coincidence in 2003 on Behnam’s radio show. Despite of the fortuitous meeting the guys immediately found the common musical ground. Soon they combined their creative forces and started to make music together under ’Groovejacks’ moniker. After saw how the music making goes very well they decided to change their projectname to ’Collins and Behnam’ and sent the first demo tracks for several european labels.
In 2004 Collins & Behnam gives officialy birth to their music and when they releases the outstanding ’Solid Beatz’ EP for Dave Angel’s legendary Rotation imprint, they realize the first step on a rapid way towards a highly regarded status on the palette of european techno music. The success and positive feedbacks of the first release motivated the guys to continue the cooperative work which resulted numerous releases and remixes on well-known labels such as Recycled Loops (’Maximal EP’ with Dejan Milicevic remix on board), Analytic Trail (’No More Blood For Oil’ with Budai & Vic remix), Supreme Entertainment (’Tribalz Return’), Ego Traxx (’Mocarabia’ including Markantonio remix), Titanium Records (’Shake’ remix for Titanium feat. DJ Rush), Adult Records, Relatives, Pitch Records just to name a few.
Besides the releases and remixes they got appearances on many compilations like Cristian Varela’s Intecnique mix on INTEC Records, DJ Preach’s Global Warming mix on XMag, Code Techno Sessions on Coda Records and more gave.
In the near future Collins & Behnam going to release on the renowned Yoshitoshi Records with the massive support of the ex-Deep Dish guys Sharam and Dubfire, followed by an other EP on Philipp Straub’s (aka DJ Felipe) new label with remixes by Monika Kruse, Gregor Tresher, and Christopher Just.
As DJs, Collins & Behnam have played at many festivals and club gigs both domestically and internationally, they have visited some of the world’s prestigous venues like few clubs (The Core, Warehouse, Kick) in Tokyo, Turnmills – London, Kick – Kristiansand, Mayday Poland – Katowice, Mayday Hungary – Budapest, Streetparade Budapest, Hyperspace – Budapest, Sziget Festival – Budapest, and the list goes on…
