I traverse worlds that have no sunrise, the sand beneath my feet. Hearkening to the calling of the dove, I collapse onto the grains and sleep a while. The raven's greeting reawakens me, as I stand and stretch my wings once more. There's no telling. It might be the very same dove that cooed me to rest.

Time has no substance here, nor days, months or years. Though the moon never changes position, or goes through its phases, the tides cling to their status quo--inward, outward, each night.

Instead of seeing the horizon cleansed by the rejuvenating breath of Dawn, I gaze over the edge of the world in empathy, feeling the serenity it feels as the starlight and moon cradle the horizon in its sedating bosom.

Without the Day, my skin is pale, the roosters don't crow, the dogs don't bark, the seagulls don't hover overhead, fighting the wind in vanity. Only the wolves howl, worshipping the perpetual coming of the Goddess Luna, or perhaps even questioning it, or calling it closer, asking that a single ray of her light touch their souls.

There are two moons, Luna and Vengeance. One was its famous milky color, whilst the other was a blood red. The wolves never howled to this one, as if they were entirely unacquainted and confused by its mere presence. But the fact of the matter was, I could see in the reflection of their eyes, that they knew it all too well.

Like them, I am alive, and my heart beats. The gentle wind caresses my feathers and skin as it does their fur. The moonlight instills its very soul into my veins, where my blood is pumped by my heart, which remembers times when there was a sunrise. Times where there were purer, more innocent nights, without the company of Vengeance, the moon that never shifted phases, the moon that never gave off a glow, because it did not know how to shine, or change, or adapt. But those things did not make it any less beautiful.

Those were the times following The Day You Saved Me.
