Taking inspiration from iconic British artists The Beatles, Elvis Costello, The Kinks and ELO as well as the vocalisations of The Beach Boys and Frankie Valli, The Waletones have coined the phrase ‘Merseybeat revival’, proudly flying the flag with their unmistakable British indie-pop, partnered with a strikingly retro sixties style of matching suits and Chelsea boots.

In January 2015, these Merseybeat revivalists embarked on a 23-date tour with Coalition Talent’s Coffee House Sessions. The tour saw the band exposed to thousands of students at universities across the UK - a fitting start for a band that began their journey at London College of Music at The University of West London, home of previous students Freddie Mercury, Ronnie Wood and Pete Townshend.

Their debut E.P ‘Lookout! Here Come The Waletones’ was released in March and distributed by 25 Hour Convenience Store, an independent label owned by Gary Powell of The Libertines. Having received airplay on BBC Introducing Sheffield for three consecutive weeks, their track ‘I Want Your Love’ was picked up by Mark Forrest, who added it to his Evening Show playlist on 11th March and again on 22nd May, airing on all 39 BBC regional radio channels.

‘I Want Your Love’ has since received further accolade having been added to the Topman in-store playlist, airing in 175 stores nationwide throughout July, as well as 275 Greene King and Spirit Group establishments and all French Connection stores nationwide, throughout August.

This year has seen The Waletones perform at renowned indie events such as The Alternative Escape Festival and This Feeling rock ‘n’ roll club night to supporting main stream artists Professor Green, Labrinth and Union J. But the fun doesn’t stop there, with a whole host of varied performances booked over the next few months, The Waletones will be playing over 150 shows this year.

The Waletones’ debut EP ‘Lookout! Here Come The Waletones’ is available to order on iTunes and stream on Spotify.
