DESCRIPTION:
Respighi selected and orchestrated an assortment of Rossini piano pieces for Diaghilev's production of the ballet "La Boutique Fantasque" ("The Magic Toy Shop") in 1919. Sir Malcolm Sargent arranged and edited his own Concert Suite from the complete ballet score and we hear four numbers from the recording he made with the Royal Philharmonic on an LP first issued in 1962. The Suite has since been reissued on 'Guild Historical' GHCD 2421.
