My "spikning" of PhD Thesis - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 18, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Spikning (Swedish; Nailing) is an academic ritual conducted three weeks before the defence in connection with the submission of a licentiate or doctoral thesis. . From that point the institution makes the dissertation available so that those who wish to read it can in order to come up with criticism prior to the public defence. A copy is ‘nailed’ - that is nailed by the respondent in a designated place at the institution, usually to a bulletin board for public display. Nowadays nailing is done in certain universities electronically and the so-called 'spikblad' ('nail sheet') is put online so that it can be read by anyone interested. In connection with the nailing ceremony, there is also a reference copy of the thesis distributed to the library.

This nailing was done in the main library of Umeå University, Sweden in May 2015 by me.

An electronic copy of my thesis "The Ergodic Revisited: Spatiality as a Governing Principle of Digital Literature" is available here:
