Chris McNulty's highly personal approach to the art of jazz singing saw her win the Bell Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album of 2013. For this rare hometown appearance, Chris interpreted standards and performed original compositions, with James Sherlock (guitar) and Tom Lee (bass).
Jazz singer and pianist Sarah McKenzie, who began her career in Melbourne but is now based in New York, performed for the opening night concert of Stonnington Jazz. Sarah won the 2012 ARIA Award for her second ABC Jazz album Close Your Eyes. Sarah was offered a scholarship to study at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, performed at the Umbria Jazz festival in Italy and recently was runner-up at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Voice Competition.
