“Freaks and flirts flourish amongst the falling rain of rhythms and refrain. Raving against the machine, paving ways to the obscene.”

The reviews concluded it was a combination that worked, with highly respected journalist John Earls proclaiming their first ever demo track ‘The Dancefloor is a Scary Place’ as having “one of the best solos you’ll ever hear on a demo” and ranking it with a fantastic four-out-of-five blocks rating.

Additionally, NME gave Chop the title of ‘demo of the week’, went on to play GuilFest, played the staple venues of the London scene (Purple Turtle, Half Moon, Bull and Gate, Barfly, Dublin Castle, Water Rats and a headline show at Borderline) & won a Battle of The Bands along the way.

Chop Chop were nominated for an Indy Award in 2008 and put on their own successful one day festivals in Croydon, attracting an eclectic and spasmodic mix of the best new music around; including Jamie Woon, SOV, JC’s Flatline Junkies, Rebecca Worthley and Scott McFarnon, to name but a few.

In September 2008, Chop Chop Bear Touch? Completed work on their first full release, the double a-side ‘The Dancefloor is a Scary Place’ and ‘Dying to Know Nothing’.

A post modern mash up that throws in theatre, graphic design and fashion alongside schizophrenic music, which is organic and without barriers, making it pretty fucking hard to pigeonhole. The band produces a t-shirt range, mix-tapes, posters, flyers, logos and designs; this has led to many of their surrounding collective to do the same.

Thus the band has decided to use this as part of the release. Fans have been invited to submit their own artwork for the single and make it as independent and immersed in the collective as possible.
