The C.O.I. is considered a reggae group but C.O.I. is ready to start a genre of music called Rooted Rock Word. The Word is the truth in the music that they sing, The Rock is a message in the music that is unmovable and the Root is the foundation.
The C.O.I. musical sound is a hiphop feel with the reggae tongue, think Damian Marley meets Talib Kweli, and DJ Premier. The message in the music is about love, peace, truth, and culture awareness, concerning current events, future prophecies, and new dances like the Lion Crouch, and the reggae dance call Zion Shake….
The C.O.I. became a group in 2000 at the Cultural Center in Decatur, GA. The Cultural Center is a Center that teaches media workshops, music, history, culture, and Faith.
The C.O.I. now hosts an Open Mic Open Mind show in Decatur, GA on every first Saturday of the month at 3901-A Covington Highway, Decatur, Ga 30032. C.O.I. frequents various open mic venues like the Apache Café located in Atlanta G.A. The C.O.I. has also been privileged to do community outreach events such as the “Out the Trunk Benefit Concert” which is designed to help homeless and low income families. We have also performed at high school and college events centered on reaching the youth….
Eiliel (Maurice Phillips) hails from Kingston, Jamaica and moved to the Bronx, New York during his teenage years and now resides in Atlanta, G.A.
Lion- I (Scott Savage) born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to Poughkeepsie, New York, now resides in Atlanta, G.A.
Obadiyah (Sean Grant) family hails from St. Ann, Jamaica, and was raised in New York City and now resides in Atlanta, G.A.
COI, goals is to bring righteous music, positive vibes and start a revolution AKA Bob Marley throughout the whole world. Fans will love the diversity of the group. Especially true musicians and B-Boys, like the elements of turn-tables, live instruments the Rooted Rock sound is the next thing in the music industry…
