DJ Funky T - Be True Happy Birthday to us! DeepStitched continues our birthday month with a solid offering from DJ Funky T with this 5 track EP. Just one of our many gifts from us to you for our Birthday month! Sugar Or Spice (Original Mix) - Sugar Or Spice has some really nice drum work in here. The pads are distant at times and then pull forward and become full and lush. We think this is the sugar. Enter in a creeping harder synth that builds throughout the track with some added arpeggiation to really sprinkle in the flavor. We think this might be the spice. At any rate, this is a nice track on this EP we think you will appreciate. Be True (Original Mix) - The title track of this healthy EP, Be True, has a lot going on, but does so in a way to not distract the listener too much. The drum work here is spot on, something we have grown accustomed to from DJ Funky T. This has a very nice summer vibe once the Rhodes come in, accompanied by the likes of the vocal Be True, this has DeepStitched classic written all over it. Be True (Dub Mix) - The Dub Mix is just what it says. A nice stripped back version taking out the solo break in the middle and keeping it nice and tidy. Dubs always have a special place in your crate and this one is a nice extra addition. Talk To Me (Original Mix) - Yes!!! Talk To Me is in your face from the get go. The shortest track on this EP, it does not wait to take off. The drums are a bit on the quirky industrial side, but are quickly joined by a lush pad that seems to really speak to you in a wah wah voice. The bass ducks in and out not to overpower the drums. The vocal sample here is definitely the gem of this track bringing with it an old school deep house vibe that we simply love. Enjoy! Be True (Afrotech Mix) - Ooooooooh boy, does this one get us going! Funky T pulls out all the stops with this rendition of Be True. Hello summer dance floor killer! A bit longer than the original, this afrotech mix adds more african drums, a more in your face bass line and a solid sustaining vocal that lurks in the background. We have already caught ourselves bopping about the room whilst we write this. A true gem for DeepStitched and we are happy to present this and share it with you.
