"Me and Mrs. Jones" was a number-one single originally performed and recorded by Billy Paul. The single, was included on the gold certified album "360 Degrees of Billy Paul." The single was written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, the main architect of the Philadelphia Soul Sound with the legendary Bobby Martin arranging and conducting the strings and horns sections. It describes an extramarital affair between a man and his lover, Mrs. Jones.
The single became Paul's only number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at that position for three weeks ending 16th December -- 30th December , 1972 . "Me and Mrs. Jones" also achieved this feat on Billboard's R&B Singles chart, remaining at the number one position for four weeks. Billy was the first solo artist at Philadelphia International Records to achieve number one on both the Billboard Pop and R&B single charts.
