CAVA

Cava is a project that continues the evolution of Music in Los Angeles.
It communicates feminine energy with the sensual,sultry vocal stylings of LA Native Claudia aka "Cava". "She takes the stage like a gang claims it's turf", says LA Times Critic in a Calendar week-end review, as he thwarted the other bands that night. Cava is featured on Cajon, Percussion, Japanese Taiko and, Oh yea, Lead Vocals. Never mind that she writes, composes and directs the band on stage. Still, nothing is done without a little help from her friends. Co-writers and fellow bandmates Walter Miranda & Alfredo Ortiz have been honing this sound with Cava since the beginning. Walter & Alfredo are High School buddies that went on to dominate the LA Ska scene for a minute as Yeska in the late 90's- right along side with a little group called No Doubt- they left that scene to go on tour with the big boys-The Beastie Boys-Upon their return they met "Her".
Walter is featured on Keys while simultaneously holding down the Bass with his left hand. Alfredo sets up a complicated drum section that includes timbales,cowbell and congas amidst the usual full drum kit. Listening live you forget there's NO ONE with a Bass or an added Congero on Stage. Horns & Guitar is just a cherry on top for this group.
Together they create a Jazzy blend of LA's true melting pot, encompassing ska, cumbia, funk, pop, rock & son. Cava weaves in & out of spanish/english lyrics leaving no one out of the loop.
If that's not enough all 3 then take their post behind big Japanese Taiko drums and one by one begin to solo- bringing the house down concert style- making it clear that this should be the sound of LA for years to come.
