Travis Orbin - Periphery Playalongs - "Inertia" - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 28, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
I had some free time between the end of the most recent Darkest Hour tour and another string of sessions to knock this one out. It was short and sweet and I reacclimatized myself within a day. As always, these parts are old as hell (sometime within 2008 being the last draft) and the track I layered underneath is the demo that first featured Casey's vocals, which is what I used to compose my parts.

I utilized my 12" rack tom and K Custom Hybrid crashes since they sounded so fantastic in the Cartoon Theory sessions. I also decided to forgo my usual Reference brass snare in favor of my Sensitone brass; mostly because the Ref is tuned conducive to a session I'm in the middle of and I also wanted to hear the Sensitone cranked. Tom-tom heads: Vintage Emperor coated, snare: Controlled Sound X. For any further gear-related inquiries, please visit: http://www.travisorbin.com/equipment.htm.

As mentioned above, this track features Casey Sabol on vocals. It was the first Periphery demo for which he wrote parts and to this day it's still my favorite vocally-driven Periphery song. His performance is magical and unimpeachable. To my knowledge it hasn't been presented on an album, but I'm looking forward to hearing it if it does see a release. The song ends with a dotted septuplet fill-in--seven notes in the space of three--orchestrated around the kit.

"Ow My Feelings" is on deck.

Disclaimer: In an attempt to stave off potential ignorant comments as I've received in the past, I felt the need for this nigh preposterous disclaimer. I am doing this for myself and for the sake of posterity. I put countless hours into these parts (composing, practicing, etc.) and wish to share them with everyone. I am in no way bitter or regretful; much on the contrary, I share a mutual friendship with everyone in Periphery and intend to keep it that way. Anyway, enjoy the videos!
