In this notably down-home music documentary from Shane Deruise, Carolina Still: "From the Background" chronicles the creation of their latest album: Color of Rust. As a hunter & gatherer, this short-film tracks this young fusion group, onstage and behind the scenes, as they hone a rough-and-rebel sound.

"From the Background" offers some never-before-seen footage, as well as insight into the lonesome outlaw reverberation. Within its textured moments it presents the band {raw} as they grapple with the production of their latest album: Color of Rust, touching on subjects such as dying young; not yet to live, murder within lonesome carolina pines, and the dry struggles of life on the farm; a life we may have forgotten.

Shiner's struggles and farmer's lament are a refrain in the bands documentary. "From the Background" adds a modest but effective entry to the Carolina Still's catalog.
