Born in 1984, in Turlock, CA, Carly's musical career started at an early age. Coming from a musical background, her father Charles Smith was a part of CS Express which toured all over Northern California, Carly began playing music at the age of 5. Carly started professionally performing at various fairs and festivals, which led to her being the opening act when she was only 12 years old for Alison Krauss and Union Station.

At age 16, Carly attended a Bluegrass Camp in Alaska, where she taught guitar lessons to children. Then at the age of 19, Carly decided to move to Hawaii to pursue her musical career. Upon moving to Hawaii she was reunited with her Cruz Family cousins, another side of her father's musical family roots.

Shortly after moving to Hawaii, Carly joined the Girlas, a collective of six female singer songwriters. Their debut album Now or Neverwas released in 2006. They also recorded tracks on two island compilations, Gift of Island Music Vol. 2 and the Pink CD. As a part of the Girlas, Carly had the experience of playing with many artists including: Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, Justin Nozuka, Matt Costa, Don Carlos, and Johnny Winter.

Carly is currently working in the studio and focusing on her solo career, which is sure to be a warm mix of country ballads and tender bluegrass that will soothe the soul.
