DESCRIPTION:
Janice Carissa is Young Artist Student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia under the tutelage of Gary Graffman and Robert McDonald. Her study at Curtis is supported by Mrs. Marguerite and Mr. Gerry Lenfest. In 2014, Janice Carissa participated in Aspen Music Festival, and is a recipient of the Courtland D. Barner, Jr. Piano Scholarship and is studying with Yoheved Kaplinsky and Arie Vardi. Along the summer festival, she was selected to perform for Ann Schein and Jeremy Denk in the master classes. She also won the AACA Piano Concerto Competition.
Starting 2014, Janice Carissa joins with Lang Lang International Music Foundation as a Young Scholar and performed for WQXR Radio Station LIVE Interview and Broadcast at The Greene Space, also for UNITED NATIONS day Special Music Ambassadors Concert with LANG LANG in New York City.
In December 2014, she performed for From the Top, the national radio program and showcase of America’s top young classical musicians with host Christopher O'Riley.
