Svartenbrandt was a hardcore punk band from Östergötland, Sweden.

Svartenbrandt was about playing at the edge of your capacity.

Svartenbrandt was a bullshit detector that calls out on injustice.

Svartenbrandt was a travel agency for DIY-vacations involving beer and good music.

Svartenbrandt was the only fun in town.

The band was originally formed in Linköping in the summer of 2004 under the name of Cardiac Arrest, but changed the name, sound and bass player in the beginning of 2005. A demo tape had been released prior to that, and it was also added as the b-side to The First Three Months cassette that came out in early 2005. Later that year Svartenbrandt recorded a 7” for Arschkarte records and played just about every town they could in Sweden. In 2006 the band went on a Euro tour, set up their own Hardcore Fest in Linköping and recorded songs for a 12”. As it turned out the 12” never happened and the band released the songs themselves on the Från Andra Sidan Spåren CD in early 2007, just in time for their tour to Norrland and Finland. These songs, along with the five tracks recorded in May that year (the Dollarögon sessions) are still not properly released.

In late 2007, the members of Svartenbrandt spread out across Sweden. Two of them ended up in Young Fit Males, one in Fy Fan and the fourth member in Restless Knights. The band kept going on an indefinate hiatus, but managed to record two songs for the compilation Den Magiska Cirkeln (w/ Instängd, Förmögenhet, Thurneman, Bad Amputation) and played a couple of shows at Skylten. In early 2009, when the band started writing and recording new songs the inspiration just wasn't there anymore. Svartenbrandt was over.
