PUBLISHED:  Jul 28, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
This is another gem that you can find on the compilation "The Soul of Black Perú"'. Among the musical genres and dance-plays considered Afro-Peruvian or Creole Music are the "landó", the "son de los diablos", the "festejo" and the "ingá". This song represents a landó music written by Daniel "Kíri" Escobar, perfomed in this rendition by Eva Ayllón.

The lyrics gather images of the culture and ecology of the song's region called Saña, a little town that once was the core of the Moche culture (an ancient civilitation that existed before the Incas). This was a big sugar plantation area during the colonial era. This song also incorporates serveral terms of flirtation, eroticism and goes around the milling, aroma, and drink of the "caña" (sugar cane) that is used to made "Guarapo", an strong alcoholic licor.

Eva Ayllón has a career of 30 years that had taken her in many musical directions, but she remains best known for her renditions of afro-peruvian music like "landó", "festejo" and "vals".
