Quick comparison of the Slate FG-116 Blue Vintage Circuit 2 and UAD 1176 RevE. These plugins are calibrated differently, but when matching the tone of the gain reduction, they sound about as similar as you'd expect any two vintage FET compressors to sound. Notice that the input of each plugin is set quite differently to achieve the compression tone.
The point of this video, which was in response to a thread on our Facebook group, is not to say one is better than the other or start some kind of sound debate. Instead, it intends to demonstrate that in order to properly compare plugins that model the same type of hardware, you can't rely on simply matching settings, because each developer may calibrate their plugins differently, as is the case here.
