The 293rd release on Mistique Music is out this week and it sees one of the labels longest standing artists returning to the label for a new single. Kay-D has been a focal point of Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's label since its inception in November of 2009. With 41 overall appearances, several outstanding albums, consistently fresh originals and unique remixes Kay-D has long been one of the best for melodic progressive house productions. His new single entitled 'Unforgettable Memories' is out this week and with a powerhouse team of remixers that includes East Cafe, Noa Romana & Deersky, Loquai and MSZ it looks set to be one of Mistique's biggest packages this year.
Kay-D's original begins with an incredibly warm and deep vibe that's full of intricate hits and swooning atmospheres that immediately draw you in. A unique synth line is introduced that has incredible character, this leads to a short drop where a smooth hypnotic synth fades in and the track really starts floating effortlessly. Soft stabs and a wealth of sweeping textures give the track such amazing depth and musically it just sounds so lush. Further vocal pads lead to the drop where a smooth atmospheric interlude transitions the track back to its amazingly complex groove for a soft emotional finish. Another outstanding original from Kay-D and one of his best this year we think! East Cafe provides the first remix on the package and this marks his 13th appearance on the label following his remix of Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's 'Angel Dream' from early September. For his 'Unforgettable Memories' interpretation East Cafe has provided a smooth flowing vibe that's full of deep undertones, mesmerizing electronics and some gorgeous melodic moments that are subtle and classy. One of the most talked about duos of 2012 have been Noa Romana & Deersky, after a string of top originals and remixes they've quickly grown into some of the most in demand remixers of the moment. Noa and Deersky have provided another mature and refined interpretation here that puts a bit more focus on the subtle vocal pads and soft flowing atmospherics. What really stands out though is the how well textured the beats and overall groove is, really dynamic and vibrant sounding. And the squiggly little synth line is incredibly unique and gives the piece something that is extra memorable and immediately recognizable. Another great remix from Noa and Deersky who just keep getting better and better with each production. Loquai is up next and once again delivers an incredibly groovy remix that comes with one of his signature well shaped bass lines that has an amazing dance floor sensibility. A playfully melancholic vibe runs through the piece along with some nice hooks and those long trailing vocal pads that sound so angelic. The package is closed out with Toronto's MSZ who as we've stated many times in the past has become one of Mistique's brightest shining stars. With now 36 appearances on Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's top imprint MSZ's sound has really matured over the course of 2012. Early on we saw much trancier big room productions from MSZ but recently he's developed a deeper hypnotic Hernan Cattaneo type vibe that is really cool. MSZ's 'Unforgettable Memories' interpretation comes with a cool, understated vibe that just flows perfectly with its rumbling bass tones, airy hypnotics and pristinely produced glassy keys. The break presents a wonderful build with a hook heavy synth fading into the mix which adds the perfect amount of dance floor punch for a big finale.
