PUBLISHED:  Sep 12, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Cacy Savala is a small town girl who in the course of honing her skills and paying her dues as she followed her dreams has done what no other Tejano female vocalist has done.
She has won five Grammys? In fact, she won a Grammy and a Latin Grammy when she was only 22.
"And now I'm finally going solo," Cacy said during an interview at the Hispanic Entertainment Archives.
"It's been my dream of mine ever since I was a little girl and it wasn't about being famous or a big star, just about fulfilling a dream for my mom's family, for my dad's family, my niece and my nephews.
"I lost my dad, who was a big part of my life and that gave me a whole inside look that realistically opened up my mind of where I needed to go, musically. He was always so proud of me and his thing was for me to do something on my own. He came to see me at the Palo Alto Fiesta and the following week, an ambulance took him from Ozona (Texas) to San Angelo and he died on May 8th. This is one of the big reasons that I wanted to go solo and later I don't want to regret not trying."
