A protégé of Thomas Whitfield, Ruth Busbee began singing at the age of 5 in the Church of God In Christ. She was trained at the Frisbee School of Music in Detroit and made her professional debut with the Howard Lemon Singers in the 1970's. She later worked with the Thomas Whitfield Company Choir before her debut album "He Loves Me" was released on Savoy in 1978.
