----------------INFORMATION----------------

1. Pennyroyal Tea (single mix)
• 13-26 February 1993 - Pachyderm Studio, Cannon Falls, Minnesota, USA
• This version appeared on the Wal-Mart and Kmart versions of In Utero, as well as the album's discontinued third single
• Mixed by Scott Litt

2. Spank Thru (demo)
15. Blew (demo)
• June-September 1988 - Reciprocal Recording, Seattle, Washington, USA
• Spank Thru was previously released on the Sub Pop 200 compilation album
• Jack Endino sang the backing vocals on Spank Thru at Cobain's request
• Recorded with songs that appeared on the Love Buzz single
• First studio session as Nirvana

3. Territorial Pissings (TV live)
• 6 December 1991 - The Greenwood, London, England
• Recorded for "Tonight with Jonathan Ross"
• Possibly the best Territorial Pissings performance ever
• The band played this instead of Lithium
• After finishing the song, they started trashing their equipment

4. Smells Like Teen Spirit (TV live)
• 28 November 1991 - Elstree Studios, Hertfordshire, England
• Recorded for "Top of the Pops"
• The story behind this performance is that Nirvana's appearance on the show coincided with an overhaul in the programme's image and protocol, whereby artists were required to sing live against a backing track, the band seized the opportunity to make a mockery of their performance: Cobain supplementing a wayward vocal by fellating his microphone, Novoselic and Grohl dancing around, not even pretending to play their instruments
• This is dubbed the Gothic Teen Spirit
• After finishing, the people from TOTP said, "Would you mind doing that again?", and Kurt went, "No, I'm quite happy with that, thank you..."
• Cobain later expressed being really embarrassed by this moment

5. Rape Me (live)
• 19 November 1991 - Teatro Castello, Rome, Italy

6. Pay to Play/Stay Away (live)
10. Here She Comes Now (live)
• 13 May 1990 - Duffy's Tavern, Lincoln, Nebraska, USA

7. Scoff (live)
8. Love Buzz (live)
9. Floyd the Barber (live)
• 16 February 1990 - Bogart's, Long Beach, California, USA

11. D-7 (live)
• 30 August 1992 - Reading Festival, Reading, England

12. Drain You (home demo)
• April 1991 - Melvins' practice space, San Francisco, California, USA
• Cobain recorded this with Dale Crover (drums) and Dave Grohl (bass) as The Retards
• The demo begins with someone saying "We are The Retards, and we are going to play a song for you!"

13. About a Girl (home demo)
• 1988 - Cobain residence, Olympia, Washington, USA

14. Lithium (demo)
• 20 March 1990 - The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington, USA

16. All Apologies (live)
• 3 December 1991 - Rock City, Nottingham, England

17. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter/My Sharona (live)
18. Sappy (live)
• 16 February 1994 - Salle Omnisports, Rennes, France
• 2 months before Cobain's death
• Radio Friendly Unit Shifter blends with a cover of The Knack's My Sharona

19. Bambi Slaughter/Unknown #1 (home demo)
20. Clean Up Before She Comes (home demo)
21. Black and White Blues/Unknown #2 (home demo)
22. Montage of Heck (sound collage)
23. Escalator to Hell (backwards tape)
• 1987 - Cobain residence, Olympia, Washington, USA
• Montage of Heck features samples taken from Cobain's extensive record collection, TV and radio commercials, original demos, and other Cobain-created/recorded oddities
• Cobain sent Montage of Heck to various record labels
• Black and White Blues is probably a tribute to Leadbelly
