THE VENOPIAN SOLITUDE is the brainchild of Suiko Takahara (she’s not Japanese, just a pseudonym). Founded in 2009 in a dusty room of an undisclosed college dormitory, Taka has been producing her own brand of highly eclectic, original music. Taka brands her music as experimenternative, a made-up word blending experiment and alternative together. Her instruments, simply put, are a range of anything-she-can-get-her-hands-on; she once used a tissue box for a song she recorded. Her music carries layers of different sounds laced with strong lyrics about modern culture, touching on questionable actions, taboos and Mother Nature. The trilingual artist writes in Malay, English and Japanese and released her first 8-songed album, Hikayat Perawan Majnun (Tales of a Lunatic Damsel), in 2014. This led to nominations for Best Music Arrangement, Best Music Video and Best Album Recording at Malaysia's music industry awards, Anugerah Industri Muzik 2014.

Since winning funding from The Wknd to launch her first ever single titled Warkah Narcissus (The Epistle of Narcissus) in 2013, THE VENOPIAN SOLITUDE has performed at Malaysia's Urbanscapes, Festival Belia Putrajaya and the Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival as well as at Kansai Music Festival (Osaka, Japan), Jakcloth (Jakarta, Indonesia), and more recently Read My World (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).

THE VENOPIAN SOLITUDE unleashes her brand of aggressively straight-forward lyrics and quirky music via her song written in Malay, Kehadapan Para Pencemar (Dearest Polluters), wanting to drill into polluters’ skull to drain their idiocy. Incidentally, Southeast Asia has been choking acrid smog from out of control forest and agricultural fires in Indonesia for over two months now, with the severity of this year’s smog being blamed by experts on the El Nino phenomenon.
