The Gone Jackals "Drop The Hammer" LIVE at Nightbreak, San Francisco, CA! - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 28, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Wrote this song following the murder of my best friend Buck Naked of Buck Naked and The Bare Bottom Boys fame. Shot through the heart, happened in Golden Gate Park. This man was my primary baby sitter, my boys rode his dog Reno like he was a horse, my camping buddy, he would go to Oakland A's games with me and we had a side band together "The Dandelions". He was a cartoon artist and we had been entertaining the idea of illustrating a series of short stories which I still have on ice. The cover of The GJs first CD "Out and About" was drawn by Buck. There was a cartoon of me on his drafting desk the day he left this Earth.
Still feel him watching over me when I can use some support before shows - or in life in general. Never to be replaced and never, ever, ever forgotten.
"Bone To Pick" was a particularly tough period of a pretty tough life. Things are much better now.

"Drop The Hammer" (K. Karloff)

Stars spinning, the earth forgiving our backs.
Pines season the cool wind as we fill our chests.

Babe, you dropped the hammer of love,
you dropped the hammer of love on me.
Babe, you dropped the hammer of love,
don't drop the hammer of love on me

Beer flows through tequila through Lucy's sequins.
Kids snoring, the boom box sings "Dandelion".

Now you're in the stars
up in the autumn lights -
A stage set that befits
a Chieftain of our tribe.
Don't forget me
as I await my flight.
I wish on a star
for you tonight.

If there is a way it can be arranged -
when my time comes I'd like to, again, share a stage.
